United States: At least like almost 80 people who got sick with norovirus after eating raw oysters at an event which recently happened in Los Angeles. The event, held at the Hollywood Palladium on December 3, and was celebrating the Los Angeles Times’ list of the top 101 best restaurants. The sickness was basically confirmed by the LA County Department of Public Health. 

Norovirus is really vert easily  transmitted virus that can cause something like  vomiting and diarrhea and is often known as the ‘stomach flu’ or also the ‘stomach bug’, the CDC notes. 

The present research reveals that it is the major cause of food borne disease in America. Other abdominal may be experienced as stomach-ache, fever, headache, body aches or even dehydration.  

Hand washing, sanitizing the affected areas sometimes, washing clothes in hot water and not going out when ill are some of the preventive measures that the CDC advises.

As reported by abc news, “At this time, more than 80 of the conference attendees that ingested the oysters have developed the illness,” an LA County Department of Public Health stated. 

The oysters which were served, and which have been withdrawn from the market include Fanny Bay Select oysters and Fanny Bay XS oysters from the Pacific Northwest Shellfish Co., the statement added. 

Nov. 25 or later was mentioned as the pack date of the oysters and Dec. 13 as the date of the recall notice the agency stated. 

After the recall, and also the Food and Drug Administration in USA on Dec.18 put out a notice to restaurant retailers and consumers not to sell or consume the oysters that have been connected to norovirus outbreak.

The warning was actually for almost 15 states across the US from Hawaii to California, Arizona to Illinois, Pennsylvania to New York and many more but the FDA stated that preliminary investigations showed that the outbreak had stemmed from British Columbia, in Canada. 

Whynt Oil Co., the company which provided oysters for the event, clarified to ABC News that the company is ‘cognizant of the investigation which hereby mainly includes food poisoning incident connected to,’ oysters served during the event and is in agreement with the Public Health Department.
